NABML Feature: BlackNews

We are proud to share that the National Association of Black Microschool Leaders (NABML) was recently featured in BlackNews.com, highlighting our mission to unify, resource, and amplify the fastest-growing demographic in alternative education.

As Black families continue to lead the surge in microschooling across the country, the need for a “National Home” has never been more urgent. This feature explores how NABML is filling that gap by providing the permanent infrastructure—funding, training, and community—that our founders deserve.

Infrastructure for Generations

In the feature, our Founder and Executive Director, Nicole Stewart, lays out the stakes for the movement:

“Black families are the fastest-growing demographic in alternative education, yet Black microschool founders have had no national home—no unified voice, no shared resources, no collective power. We founded NABML to change that. We’re building the infrastructure so that Black-led microschools don’t just survive—they thrive for generations.”

A Living Legacy

The article also highlights our latest breakthrough: the launch of the NABML Microschools Directory. This resource is designed to connect families with verified Black-led learning environments and help founders gain the visibility and support they’ve historically been denied.
