Reclaiming the Classroom

NABML is a national venture philanthropy dedicated to the founders, families and funders transforming the American classroom from the ground up.

Our Mission

We recognize that for too long, the expertise of local leaders has been overlooked in favor of top-down mandates.

The National Association of Black Microschool Leaders (NABML) changes that by mobilizing non-extractive capital and technical support directly into the hands of those closest to the classroom.

By providing the infrastructure to start, sustain, and scale these innovative models, we ensure that community-led excellence is no longer an exception, but a national standard. Together, we are building an ecosystem where educational freedom and local innovation can finally flourish at scale.

Our Vision:

A future where community-led schools serve as the centers of excellence, strengthening our neighborhoods and inspiring futures for generations to come.

A Different Kind of Investment

Our School Builder’s Institute founders commit to a 2.5% Reinvestment Pledge from their tuition revenue. This commitment ends the moment the initial investment is recouped, ensuring that their school’s growth directly fuels the launch of the next community-led microschool. It is a circular, non-extractive model that keeps our movement evergreen.
